Valerie J. Van Meter is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the 7th Federal Reserve District. She leads the Central Bank Services division, which includes Discount Window Lending, Payments System Risk, Reserve Accounting, and Statistical and Financial Reporting. In addition, she oversees the Bank’s Finance division, is the director of Minority and Women Inclusion, and is a member of the Bank’s Management Committee.
Ms. Van Meter has been with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since 1993, holding various management positions in Central Bank Services, the Customer Relations and Support Office, and the Detroit Branch. She began her career at the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 1978, and from 1984 through 1993, she held various official positions with California Federal Bank and First Interstate Bank of California.
Ms. Van Meter holds a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Michigan, is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago. She has been a director for Junior Achievement of Chicago since 2004, and a member of Chicago United’s Leaders Council since 2008.
