Michael Stack joined the professional staff of Student Veterans of America March of 2014 as the Vice President of Development. Stack is instrumental in forming and managing strategic partnerships with SVA's corporate sponsors.
Stack served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1997-2007, where he completed 4 deployments with the USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20) and the USS McCampbell (DDG-85). Upon receiving an honorable discharge as an IT1(SW), he moved to Iraq where he worked as an IT contractor for 2 years supporting Army Intelligence units with data mining and intel technology development.
Stack completed most of his undergraduate degree while in the Navy and graduated shortly after returning home from Iraq. After starting a boutique consulting firm providing services to small business in Colorado for a few years, he enrolled in graduate school at the University of Colorado Denver in 2013. It was during graduate school that Stack realized that his true passion for helping veterans transition from their military service to higher education.
As President of his SVA chapter, Stack led highly successful branding, social media, and fundraising campaigns, and helped his chapter achieve 1st Place in the SVA 2014 National Business Plan Competition. He was recognized as 1 of 2 Newman Civic Fellows Award recipients from Colorado for his work with veterans, and serves on the Board of Directors of the United Veterans Committee of Colorado Foundation. Stack graduated with an MS in Information Systems in 2014.
