Student Veterans of America recognizes the accomplishments of the SVA Chapter at North Lake Community College in Irving, Texas. The North Lake SVA was founded in 2014 and has since grown its base through various initiatives on campus.

Through the leadership of Robert Davis, North Lake SVA President, the chapter created an SVA scholarship.  The goal of this scholarship was to alleviate the financial constraint on student veterans at North Lake and to also get student veterans more involved with the North Lake SVA, by making it a requirement of the scholarship that they have a minimal amount of attendance at SVA meetings and/or events. In order to fund their scholarship and other materials for their chapter, North Lake hosted a 5k race, with the support of their university’s President and Student Life office, that raised almost $5,000 and was attended by 180 people.
