 Marcus Denetdale


Meet Marcus Denetdale, a U.S. Air Force Veteran and student veteran who is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University. Denetdale also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Higher and Post Secondary Education Administration


Denetdale says he "identifies with several unique groups," the two main affiliations being Native Americans and Veterans. 


"As a member of the Navajo (Diné) Nation, I have had opportunities to contact and assist others alike. Native Americans from all over the country have served in our armed forces and we share our cultural and military bonds. The best part about being a student veteran is having the ability to assist other students and share our stories."

L.J. Kuhlman


L.J. Kuhlman is a U.S. Air Force Veteran and the current Vice President of the Colorado State University Student Veteran Organization as well the Deputy Director of Community Affairs for Student Government at Colorado State University. L.J. is pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Soil and Crops with an anticipated graduation date of May 2016. Upon graduating, he intends to pursue his JD in Environmental Law.

 Robert Lopez

Meet Robert Lopez, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and the recipient of a Bronze Star for acts of valor in combat. He currently attends the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith (UAFS) where he studies Accounting and Finance.


Maria Rincon




Meet Maria Rincona U.S. Army veteran who is pursuing a degree in Bilingual Education at both Texas State Technical College (TSTC) and Texas A&M Kingsville. Not only is she a single mother and full-time student, she is also President of the Student Veterans Alliance Club at TSTC. Maria admits that she was afraid when she first arrived at her school’s Veterans Center, but when she realized the support she had from her fellow veterans and advisors, that fear soon dissipated.

Abby Kinch

Meet student veteran Abby Kinch, a United States Air Force Veteran who is currently pursuing her PhD in Public Administration and Policy at Florida State University. She also currently works as the Academic Program Specialist at FSU. For Kinch, the best part about being a student veteran is the people she’s met and the opportunities to which she’s been exposed. “I get to interact daily with student leaders on my campus and other campuses around the nation. These people are impacting not only my life, but the lives of student veterans and non-veteran students every day, and I am very privileged to know them now.”
