Rockwell Collins-Student Veterans of America Wounded Veteran Scholarship

As part of Rockwell Collins overall committment to the veteran community, they have teamed up with Student Veterans of America to award five (5) scholarships to wounded student veterans in the amount of $5,000 each. The Rockwell Collins-SVA Wounded Veteran Scholarship will support student veterans as they build upon their innate skills and pursue a degree in higher education.

To be considered for the Rockwell Collins-SVA Wounded Veteran Scholarship, all required materials must be submitted and/or received no later than February 28, 2014, 11:59 PM EST. 


Eligible student veterans must meet the below outlined minimum criteria:

  • Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited two-year or four-year institution of higher learning, located in the United States
  • Be enrolled for the 2014/2015 academic year
  • Attest to being a wounded veteran, as defined by the following:
    • Having a disablility rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs
    • Having filed for a disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs
    • Having record of a physical and/or cognitive disability that limits one or more major life activities
  • Submit proof of military service (DD214)
  • Submit proof of enrollment in an accredited U.S. institution of higher education (transcript)
  • Submit a full application to include an essay focused on the wounded veteran community, of which they are a part


All applicants must answer the following essay. Upload your completed essay on the application page, preferably as a PDF.

Please thoroughly, but succinctly (300-500 words), answer the following essay: Describe any significant barriers that you faced during your transition to higher education and explain how you overcame such obstacles.
