Dr. Kiersten Downs, Ph.D. is an Air Force Veteran and Qualitative Researcher/Applied Anthropologist at the Center of Innovation on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (CINDRR), a Department of Veterans Affairs Research Center in Tampa, FL. She has research experience in women veterans and reintegration after military service, health equity and health disparities research, community based research, patient centered care, veteran engagement in VA research, program evaluation and qualitative research methods. Dr. Downs has over ten years of experience managing projects that focus on Veteran policy, transition and reintegration, suicide prevention, military sexual trauma, and employment needs. She has been involved with SVA since 2012 having served as a past president of the Student Veterans Association at the University of South Florida (2011-2012), as a member of the National Advisory Council for the organization (2013) and was honored as the 2013 Student Veteran of the Year for SVA. Currently, Dr. Downs is a member of SVA’s Board of Directors.
