Austyn Creighton joined Student Veterans of America as a Policy Researcher in 2019. In her role, she supports the organization’s continued efforts by providing research focusing on veterans in higher education topics and issues. In doing so, she conducts surveys and provides statistical information and analysis regarding these issues. She also participated in the 2020 SVA National Convention as a breakout session host, enabling attendees to voice and discuss the most pressing federal policy needs for student veterans.
Ms. Creighton’s professional experience includes volunteering for LifeBridge AmeriCorps, working at the NATO Seasparrow Project Office, as well as interning at The White House. In these roles, she served as a legal assistant for pro bono attorneys, processed correspondence for NATO, and served as the lead intern within the Office of the Vice President.
Although originally from West Virginia, she received both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University’s MBA World Campus program. Outside of work, Austyn participates in recreational flag football, raising funds for the RivALZ DC Alzheimer’s Association. She also enjoys the occasional 1000-piece puzzle and composing music.
