Leanne Churchill
As an SVA Chapter President, Leanne set out to create a vibrant campus organization that would provide unwavering support to military-affiliated students and their families.
Originally from New York, Leanne Churchill is a veteran of the world’s strongest Air Force, where she served for eleven years as a cryptologic linguist. Following her enlistments, Leanne owned and operated her own business, but a decision to relocate across the country ultimately resulted in the business’s closure. Subsequently, she made the decision to embark on a new chapter by returning to school.
In 2022, Churchill began serving as the Chapter President University of North Carolina, Wilmington for the Student Veterans Organization. With a resolute aim, se set out to create a vibrant campus organization that would provide unwavering support to military-affiliated students and their families. Her mission included breaking down the barriers to educational success on campus and fostering improved communication between the organization and other university offices and groups. She continues to operate as the chapter’s graduate student coordinator. She has served on the Chancellors Advisory Committee and Strategic Planning committees advocating student veteran needs and concerns as a new tenure begins.
She has earned her B.S. in Marketing Strategy and Leadership and is currently pursuing her iMBA in International Marketing Strategy with plans to begin her PhD immediately following. In 2022, she was selected to attend the Student Veterans of America Leadership Institute and in 2023, selected for the Focus Forward Fellowship.
She continues to support her veteran community as a board member for the Veteran Resilience Project, Veteran Business Collective, and VFW. She continually strives to promote the mental health and well-being of our veteran community.
Leanne resides in coastal Carolina with her daughter, Ava. In her free time, Leanne enjoys traveling, reading on the beach, and time with friends
