Natural Disaster Map

Several chapters recently impacted by hurricanes brought to our attention the need to better equip VA with policies that support student veterans responding to crises. We spent time digging into the issue and as the map shows, we found a wide sweeping impact of temporary school closures due to natural disasters, and the potential to see housing benefits stop for campuses closed longer than a month. SVA is committed to ensuring student veterans do not have to worry about their educational benefits when facing natural disasters. We’re working closely with Congress to address the growing temporary school closure concerns following natural disasters. Use the map below to better understand the depth of the issue.
