By the end of the course, you and your chapter will have the necessary tools, techniques, and tactics to grow chapter success strategically and navigate the academic year.
This year’s regional summit will cover the following to help supercharge your chapters for the 2022 – 2023 academic year. WELCOME!
To welcome you to this year’s chapter strategic planning training, please join your National President and CEO, Mr. Jared Lyon!
The first section of the summit will address campus culture. By the end of this section, you and your team will understand what campus culture is, and how it will have an impact on your chapter and its strategic plan.
Part two of the work you will do here will be creating or revising your chapter’s strategic plan. This plan will lay the foundation for everything your chapter does for at least the next year. Here you and your team will get together and answer some very important questions: What are our chapter’s core values, vision, and mission? What are our objectives and goals for the next year? What strategies and tactics can we employee to reach those objectives and goals?
After working on your chapter’s strategic plan, you and your team will then be guided as to how your chapter can recruit new members to help expand your chapter across your campus.
Once you have chapter members it is important to keep those who are new and returning engaged throughout the school year. Here you and your team will understand the different types and purpose of programming a chapter can put on throughout the year. Chapters will gain a richer understanding of how to successfully plan and execute an event in a post-COVID 19 era where events can be held both in person, virtually, and in a hybrid form. As chapter leaders you are responsible for holding regular meetings to keep your members attuned to chapter programing and opportunities.
Professional & Career Development
Finally, we’ll provide you with some Outreach Tools including ways you can share your chapter with the campus and wider community as well as a template script for your elevator pitch! You’ll work through this, brainstorming ideas for gear and swag, and create a social media brand for your chapter – or spruce up the one you’ve already got!
As you go through the regional summit pre-curriculum we invite you to use the chapter guide that can be found on the SVA website. This guide is designed for you to understand how Student Veterans of America operates as an organization and provides additional information as to how to operate a successful chapter at your school.
