Veteran Household Financial Health & Planning Survey
SVA is excited to share its first annual survey on veteran households’ financial health and planning designed to improve financial health and literacy in the veteran community.
Uncovering the Unique Financial Challenges Military Families Experience
Financial health measures a household’s ability to meet financial needs and their preparation for unplanned financial difficulties, including topics like home ownership, planning for retirement, and debt management. Reports on the financial health of general population households often overlook the specific and unique needs of veteran households. This survey seeks to close this gap and help policy makers and stakeholders understand how the GI Bill, VA home loans, and other public programs impact veterans’ lives.
We believe this research will help contribute to business and public policy discussions on how the GI Bill supports socioeconomic mobility among veterans, how the transition from the military to civilian workforce affects the finances of military families, and other economic challenges veteran households face.
