Business intelligence (BI) is the practice of using tools and processes to transform raw data into clear, actionable insights. Organizations depend on these insights to guide both strategic planning and day-to-day decision-making.
Data analytics and business intelligence overlap in many ways, as both use data to generate insights that support decision-making. Data analysts focus on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to tell a story, often presenting their findings in reports. Business intelligence professionals concentrate on making data accessible and understandable for organizational leaders, preparing and integrating information from multiple sources to create dashboards and reports that stakeholders can explore on their own.
If you’re planning to attend a degree program, you can utilize ACE®️ recommendations, the industry standard for translating workplace learning into college credit. Learners can earn a recommendation of 12 college credits for completing the Google Business Intelligence Certificate, the equivalent of 4 college courses at the bachelor’s degree level. This aims to help open up additional pathways to learners who are interested in higher education, and prepare them for careers in the field.
To share proof of completion with schools, certificate graduates will receive an email prompting them to claim their Credly badge, which contains the ACE®️ credit recommendation. Once claimed, they’ll receive a competency-based transcript that signifies the credit recommendation, which can be shared directly with a school from the Credly platform. Please note that the decision to accept specific credit recommendations is up to each institution and is not guaranteed.
Business intelligence professionals design processes and information systems that turn raw data into actionable insights for better business decisions. They collect and integrate data from multiple sources, create reports and dashboards, and help stakeholders understand trends and patterns. Typical tasks include measuring performance, tracking revenue or expenses, monitoring progress, and identifying opportunities for improvement across the organization.
