Lihua “Neo” Pei joined Student Veterans of America as a Data Scientist in 2020. As the Data Scientist of Student Veterans of America (SVA), he works directly under SVA’s research department to apply advanced analytics approach to uncover data insights, to visualize the insight, and to build interacted dashboard.
Prior to becoming a data scientist at SVA, he worked on the Fresh Air DC project on summer 2019 as their data engineer. He designed and built new ETL pipelines which automatically collect and decode data from air quality monitors into analytics friendly schema then stored data in remote MySQL database. During his undergraduate studies, he set up a small company with several colleagues to develop a deep-learning program to recognize cartoon characters in pictures and use Unity give the characters life-like features.
He holds a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University and a Master of Data Analytics from George Washington University. Neo has a background in data science and computer science, specifically with several years of experience using Machine Learning methods and analysis on projects by coding in python. In his free time, Neo enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and biking.
