Samantha joined SVA in June of 2021 as a Program Coordinator. In this role, Samantha maintains frequent contact with student veteran leaders at more than 1,500 campuses. She develops and supports collaborations with chapters to strengthen the alignment between individual chapter strategies and SVA’s national priorities. Additionally, Samantha identifies knowledge gaps among memberships and gaps in the scope and delivery of programs and resources, recommending necessary adjustments to increase mission effectiveness. Through the research of standard college and university operations, policies, and trends impacting student veterans, military-connected students, and campus organizations, she supports the Senior Leadership team to plan and implement chapter training and regular events such as the Chapter Leader orientation, Regional Summits, Leadership Institute, and the annual National Conference.
Prior to joining SVA, Samantha served 12 years in the United States Air Force. She enlisted in the Air Force in 2008 and served six years on active duty as a Material Manager for EC-130’s at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ. She completed three tours overseas before transitioning to the Air Force Reserves at Travis AFB, CA, where she acted as the Flight Chief for Material Management. She noted the challenges veterans face through her own transition from active duty military to civilian education and career. She became involved in the SVA chapter at her college and attended NatCon in 2017, where Samantha discovered her passion for continuing her service for veterans.
Samantha continued through her education journey, focusing on student veterans while obtaining her B.S. in Psychology and Social Action from Palo Alto University. Samantha has served as the President of two SVA campus chapters and became involved in the Bay Area Student Veteran Leadership Council, where she had the opportunity to network and collaborate with student leaders from across the Bay Area in California. She went on to work as a Student Veteran Support Specialist at the community college she attended, then later became the Manager of a Veterans Resource Center at a community college in her home county. Finally, she assists Heart and Armor Foundation for Veteran Health as a Community Lead. Samantha is continuing her education at Golden Gate University, working towards an MA in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and an MS in Leadership. Samantha continues to focus on veterans transitioning through her own education.Download Bio
