Global Dialogue on Student Veteran Support: MIT Hosts Kyiv School of Economics Delegation
On February 28, 2025, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) hosted a delegation from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) for an international dialogue focused on advancing support for student veterans in higher education. The event, organized by MIT’s Student Veteran Success team in partnership with Student Veterans of America (SVA), created space for a meaningful exchange of ideas, challenges, and solutions around the veteran student experience.
The convening brought together staff, students, and administrators committed to strengthening the academic journey of those transitioning from military service to college life. By comparing strategies and success stories, attendees explored how institutions can build more inclusive environments and equip student veterans with the tools needed to thrive.

The KSE delegation shared valuable insights drawn from their work supporting Ukrainian veterans and military-connected students. Their experiences added global context to the conversation and emphasized the shared responsibility of academic institutions to meet the needs of those who have served.
The dialogue reaffirmed MIT’s commitment to fostering a campus culture where student veterans are welcomed, empowered, and supported. It also reinforced a growing international consensus: transitioning from military to higher education is a journey that benefits from community, collaboration, and care.
