Student Veterans of America and FourBlock Partner to Fill Gaps in Career Readiness for Post-9/11 Veterans in Unique Partnership

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 14, 2023) – Student Veterans of America (SVA) is proud to announce a new partnership with FourBlock to fill a critical gap in career services for a diverse population of student veterans. This unique relationship has established the cornerstone for the building of a proactive collaboration that will focus on streamlining access to proven career readiness programming for prior enlisted service members currently transitioning to civilian life through higher education.

According to a recent survey, nearly half of post-9/11 veterans reported that they struggled to find a job after leaving the military. This is attributed to several factors, but for veterans currently enrolled in college, a major factor is the gap in specialized career readiness training with an understanding of how to translate military-related skills and experience into a value proposition for civilian employers.

This new partnership will build upon prior investments to create a stronger student-veteran career network using effective, evidence-based career readiness programming and an engaged employer network. Student veterans have complex lives and deserve a structured and intentional approach to education and career readiness. Together these organizations will provide a whole-person approach to meaningful careers. “We are grateful to be in a position to contribute to this important effort,” said Jared Lyon, National President and CEO of Student Veterans of America. “Our organization is dedicated to supporting the academic and professional success of student veterans, and this partnership with FourBlock will allow us to reach even more veterans and make a meaningful impact on their lives.

FourBlock Founder and President, Michael Abrams, added, “We are excited to partner with Student Veterans of America to address the career readiness needs of post-9/11 student veterans collaboratively. We look forward to meeting student veterans where they are and assisting them to strategically grow their networks and succeed in their civilian careers.”
