SVA Announces 2023 Honors Awards Finalists
WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 22, 2023) – Student Veterans of America (SVA) is excited to announce the selected SVA Honors finalists at the 16th Annual NatCon! With great pleasure, please congratulate the finalists for the following categories: Student Veteran of the Year, SVA Chapter of the Year, and Chapter Advisor of the Year.
The Student Veteran of the Year Award is designed to celebrate exceptional leadership demonstrated by a student veteran over the past year. Listed below are our ten student veteran finalists who have dedicated themselves to the veteran community over the past year:

- Jacqueline Miller, Chapter President, SVA College of Charleston, College of Charleston
- Jamie Springston, Chapter President, SVA at Marshall, Marshall University
- Kesha Westbrooks, Chapter President, Rebel Vets, University of Nevada, Las Vegas
- Michael Sanchez, Chapter President, Cornell Undergraduate Veterans Association, Cornell University
- Nicholas Lotto, Chapter President, Pace SVA, Pace University
The Chapter of the Year Award aims to recognize an SVA chapter that has made remarkable contributions to enhancing their campus community. Below you will find the five SVA chapter finalists who have shown exemplary service, both on- and off-campus:

- Boston College Student Veteran Association
- Marshall University Student Veterans Association
- Student Veterans Organization at the University of Washington Tacoma
- The Student Veterans Association at The Ohio State University
The Chapter Advisor of the Year Award acknowledges the exceptional mentorship, service, and advocacy provided by a campus staff or faculty member to an SVA chapter as an advisor. Here are the five chapter advisor finalists who have dedicated themselves to the student veterans on their campuses:
- Charlie Foster, Student Veterans of William & Mary, The College of William & Mary
- Denny Cosmo, The SVA Chapter at Bristol Community College, Bristol Community College
- Kim Bullington, Ph.D., Student Veterans of America at Old Dominion University, Old Dominion University
- Rita Case, Student Veterans of America at Iowa State University, Iowa State University
- Stewart Elliott, CU Boulder Student Veterans Association, University of Colorado – Boulder
