Student Veterans of America and the Northrop Grumman Foundation Announce the 2025 STEM Scholarship Winners
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 19, 2025) — Student Veterans of America (SVA) and the Northrop Grumman Foundation are proud to announce the recipients of the 2025–2026 Northrop Grumman Foundation STEM Scholarship.
The Northrop Grumman Foundation STEM Scholarship awards five $2,000 scholarships to undergraduate student veterans pursuing degrees in STEM fields. The scholarship supports the recruitment and success of a diverse STEM pipeline while recognizing the academic achievements and community engagement of service members continuing their education.
This year’s Northrop Grumman Foundation STEM Scholarship recipients are:
Anthony Gaytan – A Marine Corps veteran who served from 2012 to 2016, Anthony is pursuing a degree in computer technology with a focus on Homeland Security. He has leveraged his military and Homeland Security experience to strengthen cybersecurity practices and hopes to continue serving communities through technology. “Winning the scholarship would instill confidence and motivate me to continue building professional connections and contributing to my field,” said Gaytan.
Scotty Hong – An Army veteran who served from 2017 to 2022 as a preventive medicine specialist, Scotty is a sophomore at MIT studying computer science and engineering. He is passionate about creating opportunities for veterans in STEM and hopes to pursue a career as a software engineer while supporting other veterans through nonprofit initiatives. “Receiving the scholarship would show that my impact on other veterans is recognized and valued,” said Hong.
Eva Fanelli – A Pennsylvania National Guard service member since 2022, Eva is studying physics and astronomy at Kutztown University. She combines her love for science with a commitment to service, mentoring students in low-income communities and volunteering with local programs for the homeless. “This scholarship would greatly ease the financial burden of my education, allowing me to focus more on research and academic growth,” said Fanelli.
Angel Matos Jiminez – A Navy veteran who served from 2016 to 2020, Angel is pursuing a degree in computer science at Southern New Hampshire University. He is passionate about technology, problem-solving, and giving back to his community, including supporting at-risk populations and immigrant communities. “This scholarship represents a significant opportunity and serves as a testament to my dedication to both my military career and higher education studies,” said Jiminez.
Yeyong Kim – An Army veteran and automated school specialist from 2018 to 2023, Yeyong is studying data science at the University of Texas at Dallas, focusing on statistics, computer science, and mathematics. Having come to the U.S. as a student exchange participant, Yeyong combines his education with volunteer work, supporting veterans and visually impaired communities. “Receiving the scholarship would allow me to continue my education without financial stress and give back to others in the future,” said Kim.
