The Mission Moves Forward Through Partnership
Student Veterans of America (SVA) is proud to partner with many organizations that serve the veteran community. Through collaborative partnerships, organizations such as SVA, Hiring Our Heroes, and Google come together to empower and support veterans through their transition period and into new careers.
SVA’s National President & CEO Jared Lyon, VP of Government Affairs Tammy Barlet, and other SVA staff had the privilege of attending a fireside chat hosted by Hiring Our Heroes and Google. The session titled “If You Can, You Must: A Conversation with Military Community Leaders,” featured amazing speakers, including Elizabeth O’Brien, VP of Hiring Our Heroes; Dakota Meyer, Medal of Honor recipient and Founder of Dash Hydrate; and Karen M. Dahut, CEO of Google Public Sector.
During the fireside chat, Dahut led Meyer and O’Brien through a conversation where they spoke about topics including service member, veteran, and military spouse resiliency, as well as transition challenges, available resources, and transferable skills. The conversation was both informative and a reminder that in order to succeed you must use the benefits and resources that are available. Veteran benefits and resources represent more than simple assistance, they are opportunities to continue to grow, serve, and lead your new community with the transferable skills, tactics, and resiliency to succeed post-military service.
